Professor Ricardo J. Bascuas teaches primarily in the areas of evidence, criminal procedure, and international criminal law. Before joining the University of Miami School of Law faculty, Professor Bascuas was an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Miami, representing indigent defendants at both the trial and appellate levels. He consults on federal criminal trials and appeals for associations and private lawyers and serves on two committees for the United States District Court in Miami. Professor Bascuas began his law career practicing commercial litigation and criminal defense as an associate at Zuckerman Spaeder, LLP, in Miami. After three years, he left the firm to clerk for United States District Judge Adalberto Jordan. Professor Bascuas received his J.D. from the Yale Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami.
